Sgraffito design offers a world of possibility. The word 'sgraffito' is an Italian word meaning ‘to scratch’. Using two different coloured layers, the sgraffito tool is used to scratch a design into the clay surface.

This technique can produce imaginative designs on any clay surface you choose.

In this workshop, we will explore the possibilities of sgraffito together and help you develop your own unique sgraffito style!

Dimity Goldie has a focus on making vessels on the potter’s wheel and decorating them in many different ways before glazing and firing them. She has an honours degree in visual arts and is a qualified art teacher.

She believes in the transformative power of art making and loves to share her knowledge to help others in the studio.

Participants will be provided with four tiles and are encouraged to bring one or two leather hard pieces of their own to work on.
