Weekend Workshop- Bottled Up

Vases and Bottles offer the dual challenge of gaining height in your throwing and collaring in.

In this weekend workshop we’ll start small on Saturday, with a bud vase, to understand how to set up for collaring-in, the hand and finger pressure and movements, before moving on to larger pieces and potentially bottles.  We’ll be using different ribs, soft, wood and metal, to understand how they can pull the form together. We’ll finish off the day throwing a chuck, so we have something to use for turning the following day.

On Sunday, we’ll focus on turning our pieces, using the chucks we made on Saturday (sharing amongst each other) and finishing off our work for bisque firing.

We’ll return the following Saturday to glaze our bisqued work.

This workshop is suitable for those with some experience, who can throw a cylinder.
